Round 2 of Karaoke Contest Eliminations at Airway Lanes in Portage, MI

The second round of our semi annual karaoke contest was held Wednesday November 4 inside Alley Oops Lounge. It was an exciting night with staff dressed in their best 80’s attire, many amazing singers, and even a proposal! Congratulations to Josh and Emily we wish you both the very best. Thank you to all of the singers for coming out. Of course this is a competition and unfortunately not everyone can qualify. This week our list goes down to 20 in preparation for finals when the list will be to 15.

The first round of eliminations kicked off Wednesday October 28 with a bang. Thirty two contestants came out to show off their skills and entertain the crowd. People sang everything from country, to R&B, oldies, and even one Cartman impression of “Come Sail Away”. A few of the contestants arrived in the spirit of Halloween coming dressed up as Cher, a fireman, and a Playboy Bunny. In the end not every one could make it through to the next round. Based off a secret score from the judges, the contest is down to 26. Congratulations to all who made it through to Round 2 being held on Wednesday November 4 at 9:00pm. Don’t forget to reserve a table for your group! Space is limited and goes quickly.

Gryphon Place Bowling Fundraiser at Airway Lanes, Portage, Michigan

Gryphon Place of Kalamazoo is hosting it’s 20th Annual Fundraiser to help prevent suicide prevention and domestic violence. The bowl-a-thon is scheduled for Halloween day, October 31st, 2009 at Airway Lanes in Portage, Michigan. This will be a No-Tap style tournament comprised of 5 bowlers on a team. No-Tap means that if you knock down all nine (9) pins with the first ball of any fram, it counts as a strike (as if you knocked down all ten pins). The goal for each team is to raise $375 as a team. In the Halloween Spirit there will be a costume contest for the best costume both individual and team. Airway Lanes is helping this fundraiser by collecting money from October 19th until Friday, October 30th. In addition, all money raised on October 24th and 25th will be matched by Airway Lanes Family Fun Center. Come out to Airway Lanes Fun Center in Portage, Michigan to support this great organization.
